El sentido de la vista

En "Writing as Reading" Susan Sontag menciona lo importante que es el sentido de la vista para el novelista que necesita releer lo que escriben: "Of course, blind writers can never reread what they dictate. Perhaps this matters less for poets, who often do most of their writing in their head before setting down anything on paper. (Poets live by the ear much more than prose writers do.) [...] But prose writers - who work in a lumberyard of words - can't hold it all in their heads. They need to see what they've written. Even the most forthcoming, prolific writers must feel this. (Hence, Sartre announced, when he went blind, that his writing days were over.)" Para Sontag es muy sencillo reconciliar a la literatura, una forma de arte esencialmente temporal, según diría el tío Lessing, con el sentido de la vista. Después de haber escrito una tesis sobre las relaciones entre literatura y artes plásticas (en la obra de José Lezama Lima) y superar la dicotomía literatura/arte temporal - artes visuales/arte espacial, no sé si la reconciliación entre las letras y los ojos es tan fácil de describir. Quizás me complico demasiado. Quizás es que aunque parezca que he superado a Lessing algo me hace pensar que no del todo. Quizás es sólo que tengo sueño y debería dormir un poco...
